DESCRIPTION

The College of Science and Engineering each year offers a small number of research awards to applicants for postgraduate research scholarships, who do not obtain an Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Scholarship or Flinders University Research Scholarship.

The College of Science and Engineering Research Awards are tenable at Flinders University for up to three years for a Doctorate by research, or up to two years for a Masters degree, subject to satisfactory progress. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree may be deducted from the maximum period of tenure.

This award will only be available to applicants who will commence or are continuing a Masters degree by research or Doctorate by research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

BENEFITS

The scholarship pays an indexed stipend of $27,082 p.a. tax free (2018 rate).
In addition, recipients who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or hold Australian Permanent Residency status will be provided a Research Training Program Fee Offset which covers tuition fees for up to four years. International students are not eligible for a Research Training Program Fee Offset. Eligibility for the Scholarship:
Eligible Countries: The scholarship is available for Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens and international student. 

Entrance Requirements: The applicant must meet the following criteria:
  • Are Australian citizens; or New Zealand citizens; or have been granted permanent resident at the closing date of applications; or be an international student who has completed an Honours degree or equivalent qualification at an Australian University no more than two years prior to the application closing date; and
  • Have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies at a high level of achievement and has an appropriate Honours 1 or high 2A (or equivalent) undergraduate degree. 
  • Are enrolling as full-time students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. 
  • Will commences or is continuing a Masters degree by research or Doctorate by research. 
  • Have had their candidature accepted in the area in which they propose to undertake their studies. 
  • English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language then you will need to 
    show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.

How to Apply: To apply for a College of Science and Engineering Research Award, you will need to first submit an application for admission to a Research higher degree (PhD or Master of Arts by research) followed by an application for the RHD Scholarship group on the student information system, which will produce an application for all of the available scholarships in the main round.

The Griffith University is offering Pro Vice-Chancellor (Health) Doctor of Medicine Scholarship for commencing and enrolling as a new a full-time student in the Doctor of Medicine degree. This scholarship is available for citizens of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.

The aim of the Doctoral of Medicine scholarship is to provide financial help to international students.

Griffith University is a public research university in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia. Formally founded in 1971, Griffith opened its doors in 1975, introducing Australia’s first degrees in environmental science and Asian studies.

Description of Scholarships 

Course Level: Scholarship is available to study Doctoral degree programme..
Study Subject: Scholarship is awarded to study the Doctoral of Medicine.


Scholarship Award: Scholarships will be assessed and awarded based on recommendations by a University panel.

Worth of Award:
This scholarship is valued at $10,000 in total. The scholarship is for tuition fees only and two payments of $5,000 will be made toward each recipient’s tuition fees in the first year of the program by School of Medicine’s respective census dates.

Eligible Nationalities: This scholarship is available for citizens of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:
  • Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
  • Have applied and be eligible for admission, or be in receipt of a conditional or unconditional offer from the University, for entry into the Doctor of Medicine by the scholarship closing date.
  • Have satisfied all appropriate entry requirements for the proposed degree program, including results of the previous study and English language proficiency as per Griffith University’s entry requirements.
  • Be commencing and enrolling as a new a full-time student in the Doctor of Medicine degree at Griffith University.
Language Requirements: Students need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English the candidate should have a very good command over the English language.

Application Procedure: Applicants must provide and will be assessed by a University panel on:
  • A completed scholarship application form by the published closing date.
  • A certified/attested true copy of academic transcripts and supporting documentation demonstrating strong academic merit.
  • Assessment of a Personal Statement addressing the three questions listed below for applicants to outline their merit for the scholarship:
  • Demonstrate (and provide examples of) your knowledge of the profession of medicine and the broader role of medicine in the health care system.
  • Demonstrate (and provide examples of) your leadership and teamwork skills. Please also indicate your career plans for the future.
  • Outline any challenges you have faced in your education and in what way you have sought to overcome these challenges.
