Muni university chancellor have been Museveni installs

Museveni named Dr Adriko first Muni chancellor President Yoweri Museveni on Monday commissioned Muni University in Arua District, that joins the growing stable of public universities in Uganda. He also installed its first chancellor, Dr Eric Adriko. Government has so far spent Sh13 billion on construction of the university that sits on 130 acres of land. It will also support the university’s expansion. Addressing the academicians, President Museveni assured them that government will increase their salaries and make them competitive across the region, as the economy improves. He also urged universities to teach marketable and purpose-driven courses. The president then installed Dr Eric Adriko as its first Chancellor. Muni, a public university was established in 2013 by Statutory Instrument No. 31, in accordance with the Universities & Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2006. During the installation, President Museveni described Adriko as a man who has accomplished all tasks assigned to him. Adriko served in various capacities in Museveni’s government including as first deputy prime minister until he retired from politics in 1996. He also represented Vurra County in parliament besides serving on the board of various organisations including Uganda Revenue Authority.
