Son of Former Terps Coach Locksley Killed in Shooting

Meiko Locksley, one of former Maryland football coach Mike Locksley's sons, was killed in a shooting late Sunday in Howard county, per reports.

Police say they found a man with a gunshot wounds around 10:30 p.m. at the 5500 block of Harpers Farm Road, not far from the Harper's Choice Village Center. Meiko Anthony Locksley, 25, was takes to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died overnight.
Alabama coach Nick Saban, for whom Mike Locksley works as a wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator, commented on the tragedy today.
Saban: Mike Locksley's son was shot and killed. Thoughts and prayers are with the Locksley family.
The elder Locksley has spent a chunk of his coaching career at Maryland during two stays, most recently as offensive coordinator under Randy Edsall and interim head coach after Edsall's firing. Alabama hired him as an analyst in March 2016, and he was elevated to a full-time coaching role before this season. His youngest son, Kai Locksley, transferred from the University of Texas to Iowa Western Community College during the summer. He has another son, Mike Jr., and a daughter, Kori.
Meiko Locksley played for his father when he was the head coach at New Mexico.
