Jack Wilshere has claimed he isn’t any closer to signing a new deal with
Arsenal, and it seems that despite Wenger saying the ball is in the
player’s court, it seems that they might have to wait before he puts pen
to paper, after the player made it clear they certainly need to sit
down and talk before anything happens.
He said to Standard Sport: “Yeah, but things have changed since then and all I can tell you is that we are no closer to sorting anything out.”
Changes
Arsene Wenger has taken the chance to speak about the Arsenal fans
and the relationship he has with them – and claimed they don’t hate him
personally, but that they want a manager who can deliver them the best
results, and currently Wenger isn’t that in their eyes.
However, the manager said that he is someone who can do that – and he wants to make all Arsenal fans happy.
“It’s not the person they hate, they hate the manager who doesn’t deliver the performance,” Wenger told Sky Sports News. “I can make that difference.
“But I’m just unhappy that we lose the games. I want to
win, win with style even, so it’s very ambitious. When we don’t do it of
course I’m suffering like everyone else.
“Arsenal is 30 million people, it’s not the suffering of
one person, you want to make 30 million people happy and that’s what you
care about.
“Football is first about values, if I can leave that
behind me and that maybe somewhere people respect that Arsenal is [not
only] about winning or losing, but as well about what is important in
the game,” he said.
“My regret personally is that has gone completely
underwater. You don’t speak about that anymore, it’s only about the side
of the game that is important but is not essential.”
