Muteesa I Royal University (MRU) is a private university that was accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) in 2007.Its Main Campus is situated in Kirumba Masaka, with other campuses in Mubende and Mengo Kakeeka.
The mission of the MRU is to provide an effective and efficient setting for the development of intellectually dynamic individuals, principled and resourceful professionals and practitioners. MRU is seeking to recruit highly motivated, innovative and committed candidate to fill the position highlighted below:
JOB Title: DVC Academic Affairs
Reports to:
Vice Chancellor
Role definition:
To initiate develop and monitor strategies, policies and procedures for implementation innovations in teaching, learning and research, quality enhancement and assurance of the academic program, and improving students’ learning experiences in line with the University strategic plan.
Key result areas/responsibilities:
1. Formulate and provide policy guidelines on planning, development and management of academic programs.
2.Monitor the development, review and implementation of curricula/syllabuses, and rules and regulations governing the implementation of academic programs in line with the stakeholders needs and the University mission
.3.Formulate guidelines for the effective management, implementation and evaluation of academic programs.
4.Collaborate with NCHE to provide necessary requirement for the accreditation of academic programs of the University
5.Monitor performance of Faculties/institutions/schools, Affiliated institutions, Academic Registry, Library and the satellite campuses
6.Provide policy guidelines to the University Senate, to enable members conduct senate businesses appropriately and in conformity to ethical standards and legally recognized professional regulations.
7.Prepare quarterly accountability reports on the achievements of the DVC’s office and present them to the Vice Chancellor for the proper management of the Academic Affairs Division.
8.Maintain collaboration and linkages with both local and international institutions of higher learning for academics,research and innovation programs.
9.Prepare and present teaching and research programs to the Senate for approval and monitor the implementation of all aspects of planning, development and quality control of the extension studies and affiliated colleges.
Qualifications and experience:
Be a Professor or an Associate Professor with an earned PhD from a recognized university.
Have at least eight (8) years hands on management experience at senior level (at least Dean of Faculty) in a University or equivalent Institution with demonstrable leadership and management capacity including knowledge
of public financial management and strategic people management.
 Have a capacity to promote learning and extension in a competitive environment.
Have ability and leadership skills to effectively coordinate academic functions.
Be an accomplished scholar with proven track record in formulating and managing academic programmed and supervising and mentoring Masters and PhD Students.
Should have proven track record of research and published widely in peer reviewed journals, monographs and books.
