Role Definition
To develop policies and procedure for managing and maintaining ICT infrastructure and provide a user friendly environment and Information to enable MRU staff to access information and services necessary to do their work in line with the University objectives.
Key Result Areas/Responsibility
1.Develop and Implement ICT Policy & Strategy
2.Maintain server functions for email, internet, databases, file storage and administration
3.Facilitate the provision of hardware and software in line with departmental policies and procedures
4.Install and maintain the LAN, WAN & telephone networks
5.Maintain security of MRU critical data, e.g. Uganda Standards and provide ICT Training to staff.
6.Plan, budget, procure for the unit as well as the ICT needs for MRU at large and supervise maintenance of ICT equipment.
7.
Design, develop and maintain the corporate website, MRU presence on social media and also Support IT users(providing a help desk)
Qualifications and Experience:
A Master’s degree in Computer Science and Information Technology Professional qualifications in CCNA, CNNP and other relevant qualifications
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the same position
Ability to conduct an IT Planning, policy and Feasibility study ,System installation and management skills
Network design, management and security
Documentation and information management skills
